Merry Christmas 2009!

Howdy all!  Just wanted to drop in and wish everyone a very merry Christmas!  How will all of you be spending the holiday this year?  I’ll be going to visit my family in south Texas for a few days.  We already did Christmas with my father-in-law’s side of the family, which was fun as usual.  When we get back from visiting my family, we’ll have Christmas with my hubbie’s parents (and his son and brother).  Are you getting or giving anything interesting this year?  Talk about it in our forum!

I was fortunate enough to get an interview with Dark Horse Comics’ Director of Asian Licensing.  This is the guy who works directly with Asian publishers to work out licensing agreements for their titles.  He also does some translating now and then (as does his wife).  His name is Michael Gombos, and he was very thorough in answering my questions for me.  If you’re interested in how Dark Horse licenses titles, and their view on the manga industry, then you can check out my interview here!

I’d like to remind everyone that Darkstar Studios has a Facebook page now!  You can find it here, so please join!

Please also check out my reviews of Itazura na Kiss, Color, Angel Cage, Goong, and check out this last minute otaku shopping guide!

    Wow…Great interview Kris!

But I have to ask..Why Halo Wars for Christmas? While the visuals were probably some of the most amazing I have ever seen in a VG, the game itself was pretty lackluster for a RTS.

Nah, I knew that. I read the reviews. It’s an RTS for FPS players, lol. They dumbed it down so that fans of Halo could play it, and also so it’s less complicated as a console title. I played the demo, and it was really nice. So I do want to play it. I didn’t think it was worth full price though, which is why I didn’t pick it up myself yet. Anyway, it’s a Halo that I can actually play.

Speaking of demos, I played the Bayonetta demo recently, and was totally blown away by how gorgeous it is. The combat is pretty rad too. The character movements are amazing. Might pick that up at some point (after a price drop). Most of the titles I want are coming out in January and March…. So many delays! I had to scrounge up some ideas for my Christmas list, actually.
