Welcome to 2010!

blackestnightThat’s right folks…A New Year and um….New stuff! I hope everyone had a good vacation and holiday season, but unfortunately it’s back to the grindstone for most whether it be work or school.  Most sites like to do a wrap up of the previous year and while I won’t really dig deep i’ll just say 2009 was a good year for the most part (if you exclude the economic crisis that is). If you like comics and the D.C. universe then you were treated to the excellent “Blackest Night” series and let’s not forget the “Battle for the Cowl”

saintI’ll be the first to admit that i’m a little out of touch with anime these days and that is due to the industry just doing everything it could to grab every property it could get it’s hands on a few years ago and I just didn’t have the money or time to keep up. Of course now the industry is struggling so things are thinning out again which is both good and bad, but I won’t bore you with those details. We were treated to a few new great series, but as a old school Tenchi Muyo fan I want to mention “Isekai No Seikishi Monogatari” or “Saint Knight’s Tale”.  The series is beautifully animated and I can only hope it will get a license for American release in the near future, but I promise you don’t have to be a Tenchi fan to know what is going on, but it wouldn’t hurt because it has some tidbits that only a Tenchi Fan would get.

dragonageOf course for gamers we got blasted with a number of great games this year from Batman to Modern Warfare 2. However, I think one game that stuck out from the rest and got my vote for best game of the year…Dragon Age: Origins. This was a tough call for me because I enjoyed Batman so damned much, but this game for me took me back to basics and reminded me why I loved D&D. This game has the customization that I want and the challenge that I love and while it of course has it’s flaws, it didn’t have many. I’m sure this isn’t for everyone, but if you haven’t tried it then I suggest hitting up you’re nearest Gamestop and giving it a go…I would say rent it, but that shit is like 10 bucks to just rent a game these days and for 20 more bucks you can probably find it used and trust me…The game can be up to 75 hours so you will need more than just the basic rental time.

I meant to go into Movies, TV shows and maybe a couple of 2009 fails, but this has ran on for long enough. We here at Darkstar would like to wish everyone a happy and safe 2010 and thank you for reading! Now get back to work/studying!
